Due to the highly popular Tech Valley Youth Golf Program, we have graduated over 9,600 youth and provided over 2,800 sets of golf clubs to date.  This year in addition to the Introductory Lessons, we are also offering ADVANCED Lessons through PGA Pro Peter Maassmann at Blackhead Mountain Lodge (call or email Peter Maassmann: 518-622-3157/ peter@blackheadmtn.com to make arrangements for your required pre-screening).

Also, based on your comments, we are awarding the GRADUATE ID, which allows free greens fees at our participating courses, for completion of Introductory Lessons, Advanced Lessons or completion of the Golf League.

New this year, we are also offering girls only Introductory Lessons!

Tech Valley Youth Golf (TVYG) brings the character-building game of golf to youth throughout Tech Valley, provides a forum to meet, greet and compete in a fair way with other youth with similar positive interests.  We build interactive math and science skills as well as exploring other academic-related demonstrations of golf.  We take the novice golfers all the way to competitive and college scholarship levels of golf. Our beginning lessons include discounted golf club sets.  Of course, we have scholarships available.

To date, TVYG has received grants to make this possible.  Favored funding has come from the United States Golf Association (USGA) (2010, 2009, 2008, 2003), the Professional Golf Association (PGA) (2006-2004), the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) (2014-2005) as well as New York State (2008-2006) and Greene County (2014-2006).  We continue to seek grant support.

Through this program to date, over 9,600 youth have been introduced to the character-building game of golf and over 2,800 sets of golf clubs have been provided through this program. The age range is 7 to 17 for both boys and girls. The geographic span is the entire 19-county Tech Valley area.

TVYG has several exciting program components planned for the 2014 golf season:
Introductory Youth Golf Lessons (June, 2014)
4th Annual TVYG League – (July-August, 2014)
Rip Van Winkle Junior Golf Trail (April 1st – October 15th)
5th Annual TVYG Inter-County Competition - (August 11th at Rainbow Golf Club)
• STEM Demonstration at Rainbow Golf Club on Monday, Sept. 15th, 2014
11th Annual Legs Diamond Open to benefit TVYG (Sat., July 19th at Thunderhart Golf Club)

Boys and girls ages 6 to 17 within the 19-county Tech Valley area are eligible for this training. Golf clubs and bags are offered at ½ price on a first come first served basis. The bags and clubs stay with the youth upon graduation from the program. The training occurs on actual golf courses and driving ranges. There is a one-time program fee of $35, if you don’t need clubs. Scholarships are available.

12th Annual Legs Diamond Open Golf Tournament (to benefit our Tech Valley Youth Golf Program)
For 12 years, Greene International Golf Association and its 9 member golf courses have been able to capitalize on the notoriety of Legs Diamond who maintained a compound in our Catskills.  Each year we have taken the profits from this event, used them as matching funds for USGA, LPGA and PGA grants.

As a result, we have trained over 9,600 youth and provided over 2,800 sets of golf clubs.  We are now seeing the anticipated results of that effort as the early participants are now young adults playing our golf courses!  Help make this year our best event ever.

The tournament will be held on Saturday, July 19th, 2014 at
Thunderhart Golf Club (518/634-7816) with the following schedule:

Noon – 1:00pm FULL lunch/registration
